Well, it's been a while! Last weekend sucked a bit. I started putting the skirting board down around the bonus (rumpus or play ) room. I got almost half way round with the 1 by 6 board and then Margaret checked what it looks like with the trim piece on top and discovered that she thinks the 1 by six is about an eighth of an inch too thick and the top trim does not look 'right'. So I am either going to have to take everything down that I have put up and find myself a plane and remove an eighth of an inch from the back..... luckily an old fellow who lives behind us has a workshop full of woodworking equipment, a plane included.... or I shall just pick the right time when Margaret is more interested in getting it finished even if it is a whole ONE EIGHTH OF AN INCH off what she ideally wants and finish it then.
Then Saturday evening Margaret took Matthew to the park and he wasn't himself. One the way home he just cried and cried. He has had a bad cold for about 10 days and I had noticed him pulling on an ear a couple of days before. He told us his cheek hurt ( it's so nice that he can tell us things ). So it was pretty much a certainty he had an ear infection. We thought about drugging him up and waiting till Sunday morning and taking him to his doctor ($15) but decided to get the antibiotics for him that night.... so $75 dollars later after a trip to a place called an 'Urgent care" facility they confirmed the ear infection and prescribed him some antibiotics. So that's the second ear infection he has had, which is pretty good compared to any other kid I know....oh, but he did manage to throw up on me for the third time before we took him to urgent care..... yummy
He was pretty much fine by the end of the evening..... kids seem to do really well with pain killers.
I have just spent 3 days in a 'code camp' A couple of guys from OTI ( object technology institute ) ( who are really just IBM now since IBM bought them a few years ago ) came over. The OTI crowd pretty much wrote the Eclipse IDE that we all use to do our development on. We develop stuff that sits on top of Eclipse so they are able to answer most questions/problems we have. I was fun while it lasted.... a break from the 'normal' work day.
Margaret went to the OBGYN today for what may be her last check up. She is 50% efaced ( I still don't know what that means ) and 2 centimeters dilated ( yep, they use CMS to measure dilation..... go figure ). This could mean that labor could start at any time... or could still be a week off.
